Since Bradley University's Social Media Marketing class has been such a big part of our lives the last 5 months, I figured I'd incorporate some social media into my last post. The baby animal of the week is... the Twitter bird!

On June 6, 2012 Twitter revealed their official Twitter bird. We all are very familiar with this logo and most of us see it every day. However, how many of you know the story behind the Twitter bird and how it has evolved?

Formally known as Larry, the blue Twitter bird has gone through many changes. Initially, the illustrations of the bird were facing to the left. Eventually, Twitter turned Larry around and he has been facing right ever since. They tried giving Larry a face and turning him into a cartoon. They reverted back to a bird silhouette and changed some minor details to come to the final product. There is no text, bubbled typefaces or "t" needed to represent the brand. The bird has been recognized as the universal symbol of Twitter.

  1. I wish more people knew that his name was Larry. I will now refer to him as Larry at all times. So many changes in so little time.
