Recently, I've been wishing for the ability to avoid stressful situations. So, the baby animal that is going to show us how its done is the Chameleon.
There are about 160 different species of chameleons and about a half of them reside on the island of Madagascar. Since they are smaller than most animals in the jungle, they are prey for many predators. In order to avoid getting eaten or other stressful situations, the chameleon is able to change colors. For most chameleons a normal appearance is deep green, but can change its appearance to colors like pink, blue, red, orange, black, brown, blue, yellow and turquoise.
The chameleon also has great eyesight for a reptile. The structure of their eyes allow them to see a complete 360 degrees. This vision gives them an advantage on their prey and helps keep an eye on their predators. In addition to its exceptional eyesight and ability to camouflage itself, the chameleon also has a quick and sticky tongue that can reach up to almost 20 inches.
Before a chameleon learns the ropes, each species goes through a different life cycle. First the mama chameleon dis a hole in the forest floor to bury her little ones. Depending on the species, a female chameleon can lay from 1 to 100 eggs waiting from 4 months to a year for them to hatch.
I thought this was a cool ad that Ray Ban put out showing off the Super Chameleon!
